Director of Tennis
Oscar Blacutt began his teaching career at High Point Country Club in 1993. A USPTA certified tennis pro, Blacutt has taught at a number of distinguished clubs, including the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. During his playing days, he was Bolivia’s No. 1 player, a four-time member of their country’s Davis Cup team and a former No. 3 player in the United States in the 35s age division.
Blacutt founded Carolina Tennis Academy in Greensboro in 1995. He coached over 50 junior players that were highly ranked in the state of NC; and several nationally ranked players - including two top 10 junior players in the United States.
In February of 2019, Oscar was named the Captain of the Bolivian Davis Cup Team. The team got promoted to Group 1 for the first time in his country’s history! Then, in February of 2020, Oscar captained the team again to beat the Dominican Republic. Bolivia was promoted to the World Cup and will compete again in 2021!
Oscar was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Barton College in October of 2019, where he was an All American Tennis Player!
One of Oscar’s most recognized tennis students is John Isner, who is currently ranked in the top 10 on the ATP rankings.
Oscar grew up in La Paz, Bolivia and came to the United States in 1987 to study and play college tennis. He is married to his wonderful wife, Julie Blacutt. They are proud parents of two loving children, Gianna and Max.
